Dusseldorf-born, Antwerp based Kati Heck transforms old-fashioned realism into a sort of skeptical humanism. Heck deftly mixes realistic illusionism and abstraction with painterly gestures to create large scale paintings – often using herself or friends. The fantastical scenes mimic the artist’s own performance art. Kati Heck has shown internationally at institutions such as Mary Boone Gallery, Museum Het Domein, The Netherlands and Saatchi Gallery, London.
