Vic Gentils (1918-1997). Belgian assemblage artist. Can be considered as one of the most important artists of “nouveau réalisme” in Belgium.

Gentils made his first assemblages with disposable materials in the early ’60. He also used burned wooden planks for his assemblages. Soon he evolved to a more geometric work assembling components of pianos.

Around the mid ’60 he starts using polychrome painting in his assemblages. A logical evolution because Gentils started as a painter and he declared he would become a painter again.
